ANAI + JAMES is black-owned and created by a mother-daughter duo with a combined 25 years of experience in Graphic Design, Fashion, Advertising and Marketing. Mom is a brand guru and owns a successful creative agency. Daughter is in graduate school pursuing her masters degree in Marketing. She graduated Cum Laude in Spring 2021 with a double major in Business Administration/Marketing and Fashion Merchandising.

As a result of Covid-19 school closures, daughter had to move back home her senior year of college and complete courses virtually. What appeared to be an uphill challenge quickly turned into a beautiful discovery. This additional time together allowed their creative energies to run rampant and they decided to establish the ANAI + JAMES brand.

Their collective love for making an imprint on other people’s lives gave them the vision to create a platform for happiness. With so much heaviness and uncertainty in the world right now, they understand that children are the future. Children have a freedom and fearlessness that’s contagious. They are awe inspiring just simply being themselves. Their unbias on so many levels can create a shift in the world that we so desperately need. For this reason, starting off with a children’s line was a no brainer.

For their soft launch, the focus is on embellished and customized children apparel along with unique handcrafted accessories. They offer one of a kind embroidered appliques, custom sequins animals and personalized items. They are planning a full children’s launch in Fall 2021. The goal is for ANAI + JAMES to evolve into a lifestyle brand that will include categories for the entire family (dogs included).

ANAI + JAMES is derived from the middle names of both of Mom’s daughters. The logo reflects their 2 distinctive personalities: Fun, low-key, modern, unpredictable and forward thinking. The happy face A + J logo was chosen because they wanted the brand to reflect the happiness they feel internally. Their desire is to bring smiles on their customers faces when they receive their packages, wear the product or interactive with their many trinkets and things. The happy face logo consists of a triangle shaped A to symbolize that its okay to be different. It is paired with clean letters for a balance…something they consistently strive for. The choice of utilizing classic colors black and white is the foundation to keep ANAI + JAMES timeless.
